Stormborn's Weekly Timetable

I have created a weekly timetable that should help develop everyone’s character in one way or another. Most skirmishes chosen will increase reputation in a faction (Storm on Methedras does not increase rep so I have not added it).

There are a number of raids for all L20+ members, so I am sure you can find an instance you’ll enjoy. I have also added a number of social events, too. These range from lotteries and horse races to role playing events and PVPing (and more).

If you have any comments on improving this timetable please send a mail to Hannihr in game.

The Birth of Stormborn

Two young elves travelled side by side,
Their bodies shivering against the cold
“Noontime will arrive soon my bride,
The day will be warm and the sunlight gold.”

The two Elves removed their shared cloak
As the summer dawned onto their long life.
“We shall make a house of strong Oak,
A safe haven against the oncoming strife”.

“Stormborn will be its name” they said.
“We shall paint the walls and tile the floor.
We shall keep visitors fed
And we shall be secure forevermore”.

Friends welcomed and became allied,
To fellow warriors in need of aid.
Two old elves travelled side by side,
Their loving kinship: Stormborn had been made.

Hannihr, Guardian of Ered Luin

There will be a time when the Elves sail west
To the Grey Havens of old, taking their rest.
And the Race of Men will take up their stand
To battle forth, shield and sword in hand.

But there will be an Elf who stays behind
A westward bound ship she is not assigned.
“My time here lingers ‘til the end of days
I’m destined to stay. We shall depart ways”.

She will battle forth when the enemy comes
Fighting to the beat of Race of Men drums.
“For Lindon, Ered Luin my life is bound.
This is where I sleep. This is where I’m found.”

The Tone Deaf Minstrel

Mousey the Minstrel was renown
For his ‘talent’ in his singing
His tone deafness, to him, unknown
Villagers’ ears would be ringing!

For those who heard his awful voice
Would howl in pain and hold their ears
“Give us silence and we’ll rejoice!
We’ve tolerated him for years!”

One night when Mousey was in bed
The townsfolk made an evil plot
“We’ll cut away those strings instead,
Then all his songs can be forgot!”

The folks crept up to his small house
With a ladder to the first floor
“We will creep in through like a mouse
And his songs will be nevermore!”

They approached his bed, scissors ready
To cut the strings of his dear lute,
Holding their weapon a-steady
When one man tripped! SMASH! “Shh!! Be mute!”

“Hey! Who goes there?” the dwarf cried out
Poor Mousey’s heart was now racing
“How did all of this come about?”
Standing now, to the group facing.

“We wish you stop and hear us speak:
You are tone deaf, silly Minstrel!
You do not hum, you rather squeak,
You do not sing, you simply yell!”

Mousey replied, boastful and proud
“I am a dwarf of Khazad Dum,
Yes dwarves will shout, I am allowed!
Now leave me be or I’ll kick your bum!”

A Warden Afraid of Splinters

A Warden of noble descent
In the Old Forest he would dwell,
With beard brown and javelin bent
This strange fear we could not foretell:

To some of us we fear the dark,
Insect bites or a mighty height.
But to our brave Friend of the Mark
A splinter can be quite the fright.

Spear and javelin he would wield
Strengthening his agility,
Let’s not forget the wooden shield
Unfathomable ability!

One morning carving his new spear
He heard the charging of a boar,
The tusks our warden did not fear
But in agony he did roar!

The pig missed his Warden prey
Slipping on the wet morning grass,
Poor Celebrimbus’ delay
Caused a splinter into his ass.

“Oh you vile pig! Away with you!”
He cried, throwing his javelin.
“Leave me be, good riddance! Now shoo!”
And off the boar went travelling.

“Oh what am I to do with this?
A damn splinter in my butt cheek!
I’m in a terrible crisis…
This will hurt my butt for a week!”

And so he wore a thick, grey cloak
With gear to evade a splinter,
But still his fear of Elm and Oak
Will haunt him ‘til next winter!

Stormborn Saturday Songs

A bit of music to lighten up the weekend. This is our first Stormborn Saturday Song, and of course "A Storm is Coming" seemed like the most appropriate choice. Enjoy!

Welcome Packages for New Members

On joining the kin, you are required to edit your kinship player note in the social panel. Please change it to a nickname you would like to be called among the kinship.

To do this, you must open the social panel (press O) and select kinship. The red arrow in the below picture shows information about your fellow kinsmen. Eg: location, player note and join date.

Go to note. From here you can update your nickname.

Now your nickname can be seen by going to "player note". From here you can address other kinnies by their nicknames. Please make sure all of your characters in the kinship have the same nickname.

After editing your player note to something appropriate, you will be a recruit for a two week period. After regular activity within the kinship, you shall be promoted to kinsman and receive a welcome package* to your post. These will include:

100 travelling rations.
5 dyes (these are random)
Players under L65 will get a level 60 second age legendary item**
3 tier five relics for your legendary item

* Please note: the welcome package applies to one package per player. Alts will not receive the package. Joining the kin on a new account pretending to be someone for the sake of receiving a new package will result in a permanent ban.

** All attempts will be made to ensure an appropriate legendary item is given to your character. If you have a character over L65, you will not receive the L60 second age item. However, you will be encouraged to join regular Moria instances so you may barter tokens for a first age L60 item.

Rules of the Kin

Kinship Chat

The chat between kin members should be good humoured and considerate. Please do not spam the kin or cause a ruckus. Feel free to discuss matters that are considered "out of character".
For engaging in roleplay with the kinship, type /joinchannel StormbornRP

Kinship Chests

The kin has a "give and take" policy when it comes to the chests. You may use them as you wish, but please replace any items taken with something of use to another person. You can use the chests as a means of transferring items from one character on your account to another, but please announce so within kinship before doing so, so your items are not accidentally stolen. In turn, please do not take items left by someone in the middle of transferring.

Kinship Instances/Raids

We try to hold regular and varied instances for the entire kinship. If you would like to lead a run, inform an officer so they can edit the message of the day. When in an instance, follow the instructions of the leader and contribute as much as you can. If you are having any issues, report them to an officer via tells or mail.

Fighting in the Ettenmoors

We have a kinship tribe in the Moors called "Stormborn Spawn". Newly created, any member from our kin can join the tribe and will immediately become an officer of the tribe. You are representing the kinship at all times, so please be on best behaviour. Fightclubbing is not tolerated by the kinship on either the free peoples of monster play sides, and you will be banned immediately for doing so.

Miscellaneous

Direct quote from our esteemed co-leader, Aliramiel:

"You know some places have casual Fridays? Well I think we should have shirtless Sundays. If you're gaming it is strongly suggested that you do not wear a shirt. At all."

This is not mandatory. I just asked Alira what her views on kinship rules, and this was her contribution.

Welcome to Stormborn! A brief guide to new members.

Thank you for joining Stormborn. We are a rank 10 kinship led by Hannihr (Hannah) and Aliramiel (Gabrielle). We have a kin house in the Falathlorn homesteads, complete with a windmill (called Moulin Rouge, for our naughtier members) and huge Draigoch statue that keeps the goblins away.

Our officers keep the kin house tidy (clean windows, polish the statue) and generally keep everything in order. If you have any questions, it is probably best not to ask the officers when they are on cleaning duty, but at any other time feel free to put all inquiries to kinship chat. In other words, we are happy to help out/answer questions if we're not too preoccupied.

We hold regular instances for our members, social events (such as spar tournaments, lotteries, horse races...) and encourage a casual, relaxed atmosphere within the kin. Due to most of our members being 18+, we ask all members to have a mature attitude to being part of a kinship (aka please don't ask us to power level you - instead, we will throw you to Jaggahl in the Ettenmoors).

Our kinship house's chests are for everyone to use. We encourage everyone to use them - please only leave items in there if you expect them to be used by someone else. We have a policy of "give and take". If you take something, please replace it with something useful.

For more details on the kinship, ask a member or look out for future blog posts!
